Astrid is the sustainability lead at Techbuyer, a global company that specialises in buying, refurbishment and selling data centre IT hardware. The company is a high growth employer headquartered in Harrogate, North Yorkshire which is dedicated to vocational training and collaborating on academic research.

Astrid represents the company on a number of research collaborations including the three-year Interreg funded CEDaCI project led by London South Bank University of which Techbuyer is an Associate Partner. She also chairs Techbuyer’s KTP with the University of East London. Astrid has submitted evidence to the Circular 4.0: Data-driven Intelligence for a Circular Economy lead by the University of Exeter, the Climate Protection Potentials of Digital Transformation (CliDiTrans) lead by Bordersteps Institute in Germany, and the Environmental Audit Committee’s inquiry into electronic waste and the circular economy.

She writes on digital sustainability for the industry press with a particular focus on materials usage and the embodied energy in ICT.

Maikel’s focus for almost 12 years has been in bringing sustainable and cleantech solutions to the datacentre industry, in startups as well as international innovation projects. He joined Asperitas in 2017 to lead the marketing team and the commercial launch in March 2017. Since then, Maikel has continued to lead the market development activities, from marketing to partnerships, as a member of the management team of Asperitas. In his current role of Business Development Manager, his focus is on new business development, strategic partnerships and high impact projects.

Maikel has been a frequent speaker at datacentre, energy and cleantech conferences – specifically covering the big challenges of the industry related to sustainability and energy transition.

Emma is a Partner in ERM’s EMEA Technology Team, specialising in data centre sustainability and resilience.

Before joining ERM she spent over a decade providing a collective voice for data centre operators in matters of policy, compliance and reputation at techUK. During this time she led the UK policy dialogue on behalf of the sector, monitored regulatory developments, responded to consultations and produced sector-specific guidance on multiple legislative instruments ranging from data protection to air quality.

She has a comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing this growing sector – from power provisioning to public perception.

She has produced around 300 publications ranging from industry positions to infographics and has established a reputation for thought leadership, readability and clarity of expression. In 2021 she was elected to the Board of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact and appointed to the Infrastructure Masons Advisory Council.

John Booth is a well-known figure in EU data centre circles, primarily for his role as reviewer for the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres (Energy Efficiency) (EUCOC)

He is also the chair of the Data Centre Alliance’s (DCA) Energy Efficiency & member of the Sustainability steering group, shaping the DCA’s policy on these topics as well as providing support to the DCA in other steering groups and the Alliance’s wider activities.

He is the Vice Chair of the British Computer Society, Chartered Institute for IT, Green IT specialist group.

He is also the Chair of the BSI TCT7/3 committee that works upon the EN50600 Data Centres Design and Build Standards and ISO/IEC 30134 series of Data Centre KPI’s (PUE ETC).

John also sits on the Advisory Board of the Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance ( and on the Infrastructure Masons ( Sustainability Committee.

He runs his own Green IT consultancy, Carbon3IT Ltd, providing support to organisations that are preparing to adopt various data centre standards including the more general standards such as Quality, Environment, Business Continuity, Information Security, and Energy Management. They also provide specialist niche consultancy in the field of Green IT including Data Centre Energy Efficiency & Sustainability

Carbon3IT Ltd is currently working on a number of data centre carbon footprinting projects for 2 major clients.

John is recently worked with the TIC Council developing audit criteria for the EU Taxonomy regulations.
